Job description

St. John School in Fenton is seeking a faith-filled, enthusiastic Music Teacher to serve students in Kindergarten through 8th Grade, including general music instruction and band.
This position plays an important role in fostering a love for music while supporting the spiritual, academic, and personal growth of our students within a Catholic school environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide engaging general music instruction for grades K-8
  • Lead and develop the school band program for grades 5-8
  • Introduce foundational music skills (vocal, instrumental, theory, and appreciation)
  • Prepare students for school performances, liturgies, and special events
  • Collaborate with faculty and administration to support the mission of St. John School
  • Integrate Catholic values and traditions into music instruction

Qualifications:
  • Valid Michigan teaching certification or actively working toward certification
  • Practicing Catholic committed to the mission of Catholic education
  • Experience teaching music and/or directing band preferred
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Ability to inspire students of varying musical abilities

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with beginning band instruction (woodwinds, brass, percussion)
  • Familiarity with liturgical music and school Mass preparation
  • Ability to teach a range of grade levels with age-appropriate methods
