Job description

The Role:
Moderna is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) to drive project and program management of AI-readiness initiatives at Moderna globally. We're looking for someone with a high level of integrity and personal accountability, strong interpersonal skills, and infrastructure technology domain expertise.
Here's What You'll Do
  • Program Management - take a structured, data-driven, and risk-based approach to program scoping, execution, and reporting
  • Kick off and successfully manage multiple, simultaneous, complex, high visibility workstreams with full ownership, effective collaboration, and good process
  • Build processes, templates, and structure, or leverage existing ones as appropriate
  • Manage vendors, schedule, scope, and cost
  • Measure program success (or lack thereof) and risks using data and facts
  • Provide balanced risk remediation strategies and recommendations and drive risk mitigation
  • Develop and maintain close stakeholder relationships and build influence to drive the appropriate outcomes across Moderna
  • Provide clear, accurate, consistent, and timely communications
  • Advance good infrastructure and security practices and culture
  • Partner Collaboration - work with Cybersecurity, Builder Tools & Platforms, Infrastructure, Identity & Endpoint Engineering, GRC, AI Engineering, Data, Enablement/L&D, software engineering, and business stakeholders to manage and drive improvement projects in a structured and predictable manner
  • Manage multiple initiatives to oversee the architecture and lifecycle of enterprise AI systems, including agent identity, tool authorization, and secure development practices; to drive governance frameworks that define permitted AI use, contextual standards, and regulatory alignment - including GxP where applicable; and to ensure end-to-end observability and monitoring of AI agents in production.
  • Own the operating model for AI enablement programs, including pilots, cohorts, and phased rollouts, and partner with Enablement/L&D teams to shape role-based learning paths for AI builders
  • Actively contribute to creating a more inclusive culture and environment at Moderna; endorse, create, and maintain antiracist policies and processes

Here's What You'll Need (Basic Qualifications)
  • 8+ years of Technical Program Management or Engineering Program Management in Artificial Intelligence (AI) / Machine Learning (ML) heavy environments is required

Here's What You'll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Background in software engineering, data science, or machine learning
  • Experience with LLM platforms, prompt engineering workflows, or AI copilots
  • Experience with AI development platforms, copilots, developer tooling, or MLOps concepts
  • Experience with responsible AI, model governance, or compliance frameworks
  • Experience driving structured, process-driven AI transformation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Kubernetes, Airflow, MLFlow, or similar MLOps stacks
  • Familiarity with governed enablement models (e.g., citizen development, platform standards, golden paths)
  • Knowledge of security and compliance standards relevant to AI and AI-assisted engineering.

  • Demonstrated technical depth, problem-solving capabilities, and stakeholder and vendor management skills
  • Experience in running programs within a cross-functional, global team of mixed engineering, architecture, and operations
  • Ability to successfully scope and drive complex and multi-workstream programs in a structured, risk-considerate, data-driven fashion
  • Experience improving developer productivity and building internal tools/platforms.
  • Ability to define metrics, analyze tradeoffs, and drive decisions with data.
  • Strong listener with the ability to deeply understand, ask the right questions, and proactively pursue constructive feedback
  • Proven ability to operate in highly matrixed environments and influence without direct authority.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level storytelling

The salary range for this role is $145,900.00 - $234,200.00. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An individual's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, and business or organizational needs.The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, other incentive compensation, or equity award, subject to company plan eligibility criteria and individual performance.
