Job description

Introduction to the job
The senior lead SQA engineer is responsible for leading validation activities for shared Data & Compute platform capabilities across multiple products. The role focuses on validating new functionality and platform enhancements in areas such as Data Pipelines, Infrastructure Services, MLOps, UI Frameworks, Recipe Management, and related platform components.
The position owns progression testing strategy, execution, and quality assessment for new developments, ensuring functional, performance, and reliability requirements are met before handoff to regression validation teams. The role works closely with Product Owners, Architects, Software Engineers, Data Engineers, Infrastructure Engineers, and MLOps teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
As a technical lead, the individual provides technical direction, drives validation innovation, contributes to design reviews and technical decisions, and mentors engineers within the team.
Role and responsibilities
Technical Leadership
  • Take technical ownership of progression validation activities for common platform capabilities.
  • Lead complex validation efforts and provide technical guidance to engineers.
  • Identify technical risks, quality concerns, and mitigation plans.
  • Contribute to architectural discussions, design reviews, and technical decision-making.

Validation Strategy and Testing
  • Define and execute progression testing strategies for new features and platform enhancements.
  • Develop and maintain validation plans, test scenarios, and quality metrics.
  • Verify functionality, performance, reliability, and usability against requirements and design specifications.
  • Identify, track, and drive resolution of software defects and quality issues.
  • Ensure readiness for handoff to regression validation teams.

Data & Compute Platform Validation
Design and execute validation activities for:
  • Data Pipelines and Data Management services
  • Compute and Infrastructure platforms
  • MLOps workflows and model deployment pipelines
  • CI/CD and platform integration services
  • UI Frameworks and user workflows
  • Recipe Management and execution systems

Automation and Continuous Improvement
  • Drive development of automated validation solutions and test frameworks.
  • Improve coverage, efficiency, and maintainability of validation processes.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance quality engineering practices and tools.

Integration and Problem Solving
  • Support integration of platform services and validate cross-system interactions.
  • Perform root-cause analysis for complex technical issues.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to resolve product and customer issues.

Documentation and Knowledge Sharing
  • Document validation approaches, risks, results, and technical decisions.
  • Communicate findings effectively to stakeholders.
  • Coach and mentor engineers and promote best practices across teams.

Education and experience
Required
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in software engineering, software quality engineering, system validation, or related disciplines.
  • Experience completing at least one full product development cycle.
  • Proven experience leading complex technical activities and mentoring engineers.

Preferred
  • Experience in semiconductor equipment or high-tech systems.
  • Experience with Data Platforms, Compute Platforms, Infrastructure Services, or MLOps.
  • Experience with distributed systems, automation frameworks, and CI/CD environments.

The current base annual salary range for this role is currently:
$140,250-210,375
Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
The Company offers employees and their families, medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to participate in the Company's 401k plan. Employees will also receive eight (8) hours of vacation leave every month and (13) paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
