Job description

The YMCA of Central Texas is seeking a talented and creative individual to join our team of passionate professionals as the Program Director in charge of the Aquatics Department at the Twin Lakes YMCA in Cedar Park, TX.

The YMCA of Central Texas operates programs that provide high energy, skill building activities creating memories that last a lifetime.

The Program Director will interact with employees, management, members, and other business associates in an outgoing, courteous manner while performing various administrative, support, and specialty duties related to the efficient operation of YMCA pools.

The ideal candidate, with direct reports, will be responsible in the following areas:

  • Group Swim Lessons Programs maintain 4,600 participants annually
  • Private Swim Lessons Grow this program by 15% in 2027
  • Master Swim Program- Grow this program by 5% in 2027
  • Group Water Fitness Program- Increase participation and evaluate current offerings

    Duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Manages, directs and supervises aquatics activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives
    • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed
    • Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations
    • Provide hands on duties as needed including acting as pool manager, head guard, swim instructor, swim coach, and water fitness instructor
    • Conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pools
    • Secures and schedules pool facilities
    • Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance
    • Conducts lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR trainings
    • Creates and schedules swim classes, water fitness classes, and swim team practices and meets
    • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information
    • Develops, manages and controls department budgets to meet fiscal objectives

    Skills/ Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in business management, a related field. or equivalent work experience preferred
    • Highly motivated, organized, personable, enthusiastic displaying leadership abilities
    • Five or more years of experience in supervising or directing programs as a program and/or center director preferred
    • YMCA Team Leader or Multi-Team/Branch Leader Certification preferred
    • Adaptable, flexible, and enjoys variety in your work environment including periodic weekends and non-business hour workdays
    • Serve as a leader in the Annual Giving campaign and other fundraising initiatives
    • Model the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility; implement character development and the YMCA core values in all programs and all aspects of Center operations
    • Must possess a valid Texas Drivers' License and valid insurance
    • American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor or YMCA Lifeguard Instructor certifications required
    • American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Trainer or YMCA Lifeguard Trainer required
    • Water Safety Instructor or YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor preferred
    • Must pass reference checks, pre-employment drug screen, background check and sex offender registry check

    Pay Rate: $48,000 to $53,790/year
