This Opportunity

WSP is currently searching for an experienced Senior Survey Party Chief to join our Land Surveying and Geospatial Team. This role will sit in our Lawrenceville, NJ office,supporting various Northeast surveying and geomatic projects. Be a part of a growing group of survey professionals working on a wide variety of internal and external projects and help our clients meet their objectives and solve their challenges.

Your Impact
  • This is a full-time position performing survey field work in an experienced leading role either working independently or working with and mentoring Jr Party Chiefs and Instrument Operators.
  • Candidates will also interact with office staff and the management team on a daily basis.
  • Candidates can expect to work on a wide variety of survey projects in different sectors such as commercial, transportation, environmental, industrial, institutional, and energy projects.
  • Candidates can expect to work on project sites within the Northeast region, but there may be occasions where project sites are located outside of this area and travel may be a possibility. Project sites may be located in rural areas, urban environments, and everything in between with the majority of the work being outdoors.
  • Candidates will utilize a variety of survey instruments and other equipment to obtain measurements and perform field surveys. Candidates will also prepare notes and sketches in a clear and legible manner
  • Candidates will ensure survey field data from each day is downloaded and provide reports and summaries for field work when needed
  • Candidates may interact with clients and the public while in the field often acting as the main point of contact in the field and need to represent WSP in a positive and professional manner.
  • Candidates may be asked to perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Who You AreRequired Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED required but ideal candidates will have obtained higher education in the field of land surveying or an associated field.
  • 7+ years of experience in the field of land surveying and geospatial services or an associated field.
  • Possess advanced knowledge of most survey equipment, practices, and procedures.
  • Possess a willingness to mentor and teach Jr Party Chiefs and Instrument Operators while being willing to continue learning themselves.
  • Must have a valid state driver’s license and must successfully complete and pass WSP's Motor Vehicle and Background screening.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills and should be detail oriented and organized
  • Ability to work independently with supervision or as part of a team to complete field tasks related to land surveying.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules conducive to project-specific needs that may extend beyond the typical work hours or work weeks.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of this position may include walking long distances and carrying equipment up to 50 pounds in weight.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and be willing to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate or Equivalent experience in closely related discipline is preferred.
  • Possess OSHA 10, or other types of safety training certifications
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Leica Infinity or other drafting / data processing programs a plus.
  • Knowledge of Leica survey equipment.
  • Possess FAA part 107 remote pilot certificate.
  • Experience with NJDOT Projects.
  • Experience in most types of survey work including but not limited to traditional boundary and topographic location surveys, utility surveys, right of way surveys, construction stakeout and monitoring, 3D laser scanning, and more.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $77,000 - $105,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
