Position: Party Chief
Location: Buda, TX
Pay Rate: Starting at $26.00/hr; dependent on experience and qualifications
Schedule: Variable schedule based on project needs; overtime, nights, and weekends may be required
Scope of Work: Lead and supervise survey activities supporting the I-35 South Project, ensuring accurate layout, staking, and data collection for heavy civil construction work.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise an assigned survey crew.
  • Perform construction layout and staking for roadway, bridge, retaining wall, grading, and underground utility work.
  • Operate and maintain Trimble GPS equipment and Robotic Total Stations.
  • Conduct topographic, construction, and boundary surveys.
  • Collect and process survey data and maintain accurate field documentation.
  • Train and provide direction to survey crew members and field assistants.
  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of survey equipment.
  • Attend daily safety meetings.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Work a flexible schedule based on project needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of surveying experience, including Party Chief responsibilities.
  • Proficiency with Trimble GPS equipment and Robotic Total Stations.
  • Experience leading and directing field survey crews.
  • Heavy civil and/or DOT project experience preferred.
  • Experience with construction staking, grading, utility layout, and topographic surveys.
  • Knowledge of rigging safety, rigging inspection, common hitches, basic crane hand signals, and knot tying.
  • Ability to read plans, perform calculations, and maintain accurate survey records.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong commitment to jobsite safety.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and active construction environments.
