Job description

Senior Accounting Manager System One is partnering with a client seeking a Senior Accounting Manager – Land Accounting to lead the accounting and financial reporting for land development operations in Plano, TX. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing month-end close, financial reporting, technical accounting, internal controls, and process improvements while managing and developing a team of accounting professionals. Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for land development entities.
  • Oversee financial reporting, account reconciliations, journal entries, and budget-to-actual analyses.
  • Manage accounting for land acquisitions, development costs, lot inventory, joint ventures, and land transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, SOX, and internal accounting policies.
  • Partner with land acquisition, development, finance, and operational teams to provide financial guidance on development projects.
  • Drive process improvements, strengthen internal controls, and standardize accounting practices.
  • Mentor, develop, and lead Staff and Senior Accountants.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Master's and CPA preferred).
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Required experience in homebuilding or land development.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close, and internal controls.
  • Experience accounting for land acquisitions, development costs, lot inventory, and land joint ventures.
  • Advanced Excel and financial systems proficiency with strong analytical and communication skills.
