Job Description

The Lead Consultant performs activities aimed at improving database performance and efficiency. The individual provides trending data on and makes recommendations for performance issues for application and database environments, ensuring stability, and providing evaluation of new or changed products.

SQL Server DBA Key Responsibilities:

  • Database Management:
    • Administer, monitor, and maintain MS SQL Server and MongoDB or Oracle or PostgreSQL databases.
    • Implement data backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
    • Optimize database performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Security & Compliance:
    • Enforce database security measures to safeguard sensitive data.
    • Implement and manage user access and roles to ensure compliance with security policies.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work with development teams to design and implement database solutions that support application requirements.
    • Collaborate with IT teams in managing database changes and upgrades.
  • Monitoring & Reporting:
    • Set up and utilize monitoring tools to track database performance and address bottlenecks.
    • Generate reports on system performance, availability, and other relevant metrics.
  • Proactive Maintenance:
    • Perform routine database maintenance tasks, including patching and updates for both MS SQL Server and MongoDB or Oracle Or PostgreSQL.
    • Evaluate and recommend improvements for database architecture and software tools.

Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • 5-7 years of experience in database administration, specifically with MS SQL Server and MongoDB or Oracle Or PostgreSQL.
    • Strong knowledge of database backup, recovery, and replication strategies.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Oracle database management, including Oracle RAC and Data Guard.
    • Experience with MongoDB/SQL Server/PostgreSQL deployment and management tools.
    • Familiarity with database monitoring tools and best practices.
    • Knowledge of agility tools such as Version1.
    • Familiarity with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow.
    • Experience with Datadog monitoring.
    • Cloud-based database administration experience with Azure or Amazon AWS.
    • Familiarity with ITIL practices.
    • Proficiency in Python and PowerShell scripting.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
    • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Compensation

Base compensation offered for this role is $98,100.00 - $140,000.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.
*** Total compensation for this role is comprised of several factors, including the base compensation outlined above, plus incentive pay (i.e., commission, bonus, etc.) as applicable for the role.
