Title: SQL Developer Description: We have a need for a SQL Developer with strong Power BI Modeling experience. This is a 1 year contract but has a strong possibility of extending. The ideal candidate will have Power BI, Redshift/Postgres SQL, and AWS Aurora MySQL. This candidate will be looking at data models to help with performance issues and enhancements. The candidate needs to have STRONG communication skills as they will be training end users how to build reports and knowledge transfer. Client is seeking a Senior Developer with extensive experience in data modeling, dashboard development, and performance optimization. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in Power BI, Redshift/PostgreSQL, and AWS Aurora MySQL, with a primary focus on enhancing the performance of existing BI solutions rather than developing from scratch. This role requires a proactive individual with excellent problem-solving and communication skills who can also assist with end-user training and knowledge transfer. Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and optimize existing Power BI reports, dashboards, and data models to improve performance and efficiency.
  • Review and tune underlying SQL queries, ensuring optimal performance from Redshift/PostgreSQL and Aurora MySQL data sources.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and data teams to understand performance issues and implement effective enhancements.
  • Conduct performance profiling, query tuning, and model optimization to support scalable BI solutions.
  • Perform code and solution reviews, providing recommendations for improvement and best practices.
  • Provide training and knowledge transfer to end users and internal teams.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of BI assets, changes, and best practices.
  • Work closely with data engineers and DBAs to align on performance strategies and data access patterns.
Required Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics, with a strong focus on Power BI development.
  • Proficient in Power BI and data modeling best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience with Amazon Redshift, PostgreSQL, and AWS Aurora MySQL, especially in writing and tuning complex SQL queries.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL performance tuning, index optimization, and query plan analysis.
  • Proven ability to analyze and troubleshoot performance issues in BI environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to conduct end-user training and deliver knowledge transfer sessions.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a performance-focused BI environment.
