An Apigee Developer is responsible for designing, developing, managing, and securing API solutions using the Google Cloud Apigee API Management platform.

Job Title: Apigee Developer

Job Type: Full-time / Contract

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Apigee Developer to design, build, and maintain enterprise API management solutions. In this role, you will work closely with backend, frontend, and security teams to build secure, scalable, and high-performance API proxies, enforce security policies, and monitor API traffic using Google Cloud Apigee.

Key Responsibilities

  • API Design & Development: Build, configure, and maintain API proxies, OpenAPI (Swagger) specifications, RESTful APIs, and SOAP-to-REST transformations on the Apigee platform.

  • Security & Authentication: Implement security policies such as OAuth 2.0, SAML, JWT, API Keys, Mutual TLS (mTLS), and threat protection (SQL injection, XML/JSON threat protection, rate limiting).

  • Policy Management: Utilize out-of-the-box and custom Apigee policies (JavaScript, Java, Python, Service Callouts, Assign Message, Spike Arrest).

  • Integration & Orchestration: Integrate Apigee with backend microservices, enterprise service buses (ESB), and cloud providers (Google Cloud Platform, AWS, Azure).

  • Monitoring & Analytics: Monitor API health, usage metrics, and performance analytics using Apigee Analytics and logging platforms (Splunk, ELK, Google Cloud Platform Cloud Logging).

  • CI/CD Automation: Set up automated build and deployment pipelines for Apigee code using Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Apigee Maven plugin.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Apigee Expertise: 3+ years of hands-on experience with Apigee Edge or Apigee X / Hybrid platforms.

  • API Standards: Strong foundation in RESTful API design principles, OpenAPI specifications, JSON, XML, and HTTP protocol standards.

  • Security Concepts: Deep understanding of enterprise security concepts, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, and TLS/SSL certificates.

  • Scripting Languages: Proficiency in JavaScript, Node.js, Java, or Python for writing custom Apigee extensions and callouts.

  • DevOps Skills: Experience with CI/CD tools, version control (Git), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
