Job description

The Transportation Dispatcher is responsible for scheduling drivers to pick up or deliver loads to customers and serves as a point of contact for drivers, customers, and internal departments, such as Billing. Responsibilities include answering calls, monitor emails, troubleshoot shipment issues, compile drivers’ paperwork, and ensure customers are serviced in a timely manner.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan schedules and dispatch drivers, monitor routes, and proactively plan to avoid delays

• Daily interaction with drivers, maintenance employees, and Sprint personnel from other terminals

• Answer driver/customer calls and assist with troubleshooting

• Coordinate with customers and drivers for timely pick-ups and deliveries

• Coordinate logistics of daily workload for drivers, as well as coordination with shop manager

• Serve as a liaison between drivers and office administration

• Some nightly and weekend on-call responsibilities

• Other job-related duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or GED

• Experience in transportation or logistics work experience/education preferred

• Proficient E-mail (Outlook), and Microsoft software (Excel), and Internet data-searching skills

• Experience using truck management software system is preferred. Familiarity with TMW software is preferred

• Excellent communication (written & verbal), interpersonal, and customer-service skills

• Strong analytical / troubleshooting / problem-solving / decision-making abilities in a rapidly changing environment

• Detail-oriented and extremely organized

• Service oriented

• Daily attention to detail within a routine and able to prioritize daily workload using solid time-management skills, to work in a fast paced environment

• Preferred, but not necessary: Bilingual English/Spanish
