Role Summary
The Psychiatric Technician plays a key role in maintaining a safe, therapeutic, and supportive environment for patients. In collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team, this position provides direct patient care, emotional support, and assistance with implementing individualized treatment plans. The Psychiatric Technician also supports clinical operations through accurate observation, data collection, and documentation.
Psychiatric Technicians (Psych Techs) are an essential part of the behavioral health team. They work in the hospital setting alongside Nurses, Psychiatrists, and Social Workers to support individuals across the lifespan who are experiencing a behavioral health crisis. Psych Techs work closely with Nurses to promote a safe and therapeutic environment by observing and reporting changes in patient behavior. They assist with activities of daily living, facilitate groups and activities, and use therapeutic communication to address patient concerns, helping to foster a safe, healing environment.
Eligible candidates may receive a sign-on bonus of up to $4,000, paid in accordance with program guidelines.
The Psychiatric Technician Float is assigned to different departments depending upon staffing needs.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  1. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or Social Services preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date.
  3. Experience: One year of experience and/or coursework in a social services related field required.
