Job description

Job Summary:

SUNY Upstate is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Child Life Specialist to be part of Upstate's Pediatric Child Life Team working for the Cystic Fibrosis Clinic, serving in a Part-time role supporting those patients and families with this debilitating disease.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide developmental and psychosocial support for pediatric patients and families.

Assess children's developmental and coping needs.

Provide preparation, age appropriate diversion and motional support to minimize distress associated with hospitalization and/or medical encounters.

Collaborates as a member of an interdisciplinary health care team.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Development, Psychology or related field.

Must have completed a Child Life Internship under the direct supervision of a Certified Child Life Specialist.

Current Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) credential required or ability to obtain certification within one year of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree preferred.

Work Days:

Part-Time

Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
