POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION: Groundskeeper
LOCATION:  Facilities
JOB SUMMARY:
The Groundskeeper will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of outdoor spaces, ensuring they are clean, safe, and visually appealing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent;
  2. Considerable knowledge of the standard practices, methods, materials, equipment and tools of grounds care and landscaping maintenance required;
  3. Two years of experience in grounds care and landscaping maintenance;
  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  
  1. Physically able to perform standard tasks of the trade;
  2. Must have a valid Georgia Driver's License and a good driving record;
  3. Ability to read work orders, basic operating instructions and chemical mixing instructions.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Operates vehicles and/or power equipment such as push mowers, zero-turn mowers, tractors, front end loaders, twin axle vehicles, chain saws, hedge clippers, pruning saws, weed eaters, edgers, and backpack blowers for performing grounds care and landscaping maintenance;
  2. Uses hand tools such as post hole diggers, rakes, shovels, and axes;
  3. Mows school and administrative building campuses;
  4. Trims tree limbs, shrubbery, vines on fences and structures;
  5. Prepares ground for planting and plants grass, flowers, bulbs, shrubs and trees to produce attractive grounds;
  6. Cultivates, fertilizes, prunes and performs other related duties in the care and maintenance of shrubs and trees throughout the site;
  7. Collects and disposes of leaves, limbs, and other debris from grounds. Clears storm drains and traps of debris;
  8. Applies insecticides by use of sprayer as directed and by adhering to necessary safety precautions;
  9. Maintains all tools and equipment assigned in a secure, clean and orderly manner;
  10. Responsible for maintaining the required uniform and ensuring a professional appearance and attitude at all times;
  11. Performs other tasks as assigned by Supervisor.

REPORTS TO:  Maintenance Services Supervisor
SALARY RANGE:  Competitive salary and excellent benefits package, in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide
