Job Overview

The Whey Operator is responsible for assisting the Whey Evaporator and Dryer Operator in the whey processing operation.

Job Responsibilities

Operate and clean the AMVR Evaporator in automatic and manual modes.
Operate and clean the TFD and MSD spray dryers.
Perform lab work as required.
Recognize deficiencies in product.
Operate equipment in preparation for cream shipments.
Troubleshoot and solve any productions problem during operation.
Keep all records accurate and up to date.
Keep equipment and plant in condition that will meet all regulatory agency requirements.
All GLC employees are expected to perform any assignment or job task according to the stated safety policies and procedures.
All GLC employees are expected to produce our products in a manner that exceeds the quality and value expectation of our customers and consumers by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Policies and Procedures outlined in our Safe Quality Food Program.
Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.

The pay for this position is $26.05 - $26.60. All offers will be based on a candidate's skills, prior relevant experience, applicable degrees and certifications, and internal equity. This range is specific to New York and may not be applicable to other locations.

Required Education and Experience

Ability to adapt to change quickly.
Ability to understand the basic operation of evaporator and dryer and be capable of making process adjustments to them.
Basic computer skills required.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and related equipment.
  • Ability to make minor decisions based on standard practices.
  • Basic math skills to adjust process changes.
  • SAP experience.
Working Conditions
Ability to constantly stand/walk; bend/flex/extend neck; frequently grip/reach/lift/pull with L/R hands.
Ability to frequently handle material from floor-to-waist, waist-to-shoulder and pushing/pulling/carrying.
Product weight: up to 50 lbs.
Repetitive work in a fast-paced production environment with average temperature of 50-60 degrees F.
