Job description


The Retail Sales Associate provides excellent customer service and actively promotes the selling of merchandise, operates a cash register and handles all payment transactions for purchase. The Retail Associate receives, unpacks, folds and puts away the daily deliveries of merchandise. He or she employs selling techniques required for the position. The Retail Sales Associate ensures that the selling areas are neat and clean and complies with visual standards. All retail employees should be outgoing, upbeat, energetic and reliable.
Responsibilities
• Maintain customer service levels in accordance with Total Service standards
• Embrace the Spotlight on Service
• Acknowledge and greet guests with a smile
• Be courteous and create a warm, friendly atmosphere for the guest
• Be knowledgeable about the Total Rewards program and the benefits it offers the guest
• Be knowledgeable of the hotel property and the amenities it has to offer
• Assist guests in finding requested products, including calling other stores if needed
• Partner with fellow associates to create a strong team
• Communicate all daily activities to the next shift and the Supervisor on Duty
• Promote the selling of merchandise and upsell products
• Develop an excellent understanding of product assortments across all retail stores
• Be knowledgeable about products sold and alert management of customer product needs
• Be knowledgeable on register operations and handle all payment transactions
• Ensure necessary supplies are in place for the next shift (register tape, bags, tissue, etc.)
• Comply with all cash management policies and procedures
• Report cash register malfunctions to the Supervisor on Duty
• Ensure money is not left unattended
• Receive, unpack, fold, and put away daily merchandise deliveries
• Complete stock counts as requested
• Receive shipments in a timely manner
• Merchandise according to planograms and notify supervisors of discrepancies
• List items needed for replenishment and relay information to the Supervisor on Duty
• Inform the Supervisor on Duty of overstock items, slow sellers, fast sellers, and customer requests
• Ensure balanced sizing within softline assortments
• Work with supervisors to display inventory according to planograms
• Maintain visual and merchandising standards per company guidelines
• Ensure folding is completed throughout the day and softlines are hung in proper size order
• Confirm correct signage is in place for sale or special purchase items
• Assist with physical inventory counts twice a year
• Attend mandatory meetings and training sessions
• Complete job assignments as directed by the Supervisor on Duty
• Assist with associate sales, inventories, and special events as requested
Qualifications
• Knowledge of customer service standards and selling techniques
• Ability to learn and retain information regarding products, rewards programs, and hotel amenities
• Ability to operate cash registers and process transactions accurately
• Ability to follow company policies, procedures, and visual merchandising guidelines
• Strong communication skills for working with guests, associates, and supervisors
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Dependable attendance and punctuality in accordance with company guidelines
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as folding, hanging, and stocking merchandise
• Ability to lift, carry, and transport merchandise and supplies
• High-volume retail environments may require additional physical labor, including stocking coolers and transporting stock from remote storage locations
• Ability to maintain focus and accuracy while handling cash and operating registers
• Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment
• Ability to use good guest service awareness to help deter theft and notify Security when needed
• Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
