Job description

About the Position

Golden State is looking for a Manager to lead a comprehensive and effective risk management and compliance program as part of the Legal team. In this role, you will oversee enterprise risk, manage insurance programs, and provide strategic risk management guidance to leadership.  You will also oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of legal and enterprise-wide compliance frameworks, ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory requirements and fostering a culture of process. This position reports to the Chief Legal Officer.

This is a full-time position based onsite in San Francisco, CA.

Key Responsibilities

Risk Management

  • Oversee and enhance Golden State's enterprise risk management (ERM) framework
  • Partner with Legal, Finance, Security, Safety, People Operations, Engineering, Operations, Surveillance, and Guest Services teams to identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
  • Review vendor contracts, partnership agreements, construction projects, and financing agreements to ensure appropriate coverage and identify exposure
  • Be a part of the strategic team that analyzes future construction and renovation projects
  • Review, manage, and enhance company insurance policies; maintain strong relationships with brokers and carriers
  • Partner with brokers and underwriters on annual insurance renewals; evaluate insurance programs for coverage gaps, cost savings, and appropriate limits
  • Manage the insurance broker relationship to ensure accountability and service delivery
  • Conduct duediligence reviews on potential vendors and partners
  • Collaborate with People Operations, Safety, and Security to draft, review, and implement SOPs and internal policies
  • Coordinate ongoing risk assessments and training for staff; provide seniorlevel reports and recommendations
  • Act as liaison with thirdparty claims management teams and manage claims through final settlement
  • Work with inside and outside counsel on litigation management and preparation

Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and monitor compliance strategy, policies, training, and internal controls
  • Partner across departments to ensure organizational adherence to legal, regulatory, and internal policy requirements
  • Conduct periodic compliance assessments and audits; recommend corrective actions
  • Track relevant regulatory changes affecting sports, entertainment, venue operations, and employment-related environments; advise stakeholders accordingly
  • Serve as primary point of contact for internal and external compliance inquiries, audits, and assessments
  • Coordinate compliance training and employee education initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Professional Risk Manager (PRM) certification is a plus
  • Minimum 5 years in risk/compliance roles within sports, events, or entertainment industries
  • Strong understanding of risk management, insurance, and claims advocacy; experience in venue or sportsrelated construction risk
  • Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining compliance programs, including policies, internal controls, and staff training initiatives
  • Ability to monitor and interpret evolving federal, state, and local regulations and translate them into actionable guidance for cross functional teams
  • Experience conducting internal compliance audits, assessments, and investigations, including recommending and implementing corrective actions
  • Ability to serve as a primary liaison with regulatory bodies, external auditors, and internal stakeholders on compliance matters
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite/Google Workspace
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with clients and peers at all levels within the organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, service and resolution skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to work under tight deadlines; ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
  • Ability to balance multiple projects in a demanding and fast-paced work environment

Compensation

  • $175,000 - $185,000 Per Year + Bonus
