Job description

ACG Mental Performance is seeking a full-time Licensed Mental Performance Clinician to lead and grow the clinical side of our practice. This role bridges sport psychology, clinical mental health, and performance consulting, with a particular emphasis on serving athlete populations navigating injury, transition, and high-performance stress. The ideal candidate holds a clinical license that enables independent practice and insurance billing, brings direct experience working with athletes, and ideally holds or is pursuing the Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) credential.

This is a foundational hire for the clinical arm of ACG. The right candidate will help define what clinical care looks like inside a performance psychology model and will work alongside the ACG consulting team to deliver integrated support across our athlete client base. Key Responsibilities Clinical Practice Provide individual clinical mental health services to athlete clients across youth, collegiate, and professional levels Conduct intake assessments, develop treatment plans, and deliver evidence-based interventions Carry a managed caseload with appropriate documentation, session notes, and treatment planning Bill insurance carriers using appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes (CPT/DSM-5) Coordinate with referral partners including team physicians, athletic trainers, and coaches as appropriate and within HIPAA-compliant protocols Athlete and Injury-Focused Care Deliver specialized support for athletes in active injury rehabilitation, addressing psychological responses to injury including pain, fear of reinjury, identity disruption, and return-to-sport anxiety Integrate clinical intervention with performance psychology frameworks to support the full athlete, not just the presenting clinical concern Collaborate with ACG mental performance consultants on athlete cases requiring both clinical and performance support, maintaining appropriate scope delineation Develop and facilitate group programming for injury recovery cohorts where applicable Program Development and ACG Integration Contribute to ACG's clinical protocols, intake processes, and referral pathways as we formalize the clinical practice Participate in ACG team meetings, case consultation, and continuing education initiatives Assist in developing clinical content for ACG's MindLab education platform and broader programming where appropriate Maintain current knowledge of research in sport psychology, clinical sport psychology, and athlete mental health Qualifications Required Active clinical license enabling independent practice in the state of Iowa (LPC, LPCC strongly preferred) Eligibility to bill insurance as a mental health provider, including credentialing with major carriers Demonstrated clinical experience working with athletes or in sport settings Knowledge of sport psychology principles, athlete identity, and the psychological demands of competitive sport Strong relational competence and ability to build trust with athlete populations across ages and competition levels Proficiency with clinical documentation and electronic health records Preferred Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) credential, or active pursuit of CMPC certification Graduate training or focused practicum experience in sport psychology or clinical sport psychology Experience with return-to-sport psychological clearance protocols or sport injury rehabilitation settings Familiarity with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), or other evidence-based modalities with demonstrated application to athletic performance Experience working in or alongside a professional, collegiate, or elite youth sport organization Comfort working in a hybrid clinical-performance model across both therapeutic and consulting contexts #J-18808-Ljbffr
