Youth Sports Program Manager – Nonprofit Organization


Location: Torrance
Schedule: Full-Time, Non-Exempt, 8:30am start
Compensation: Competitive, based on experience

A growing nonprofit youth sports organization is seeking an organized, energetic, and relationship-focused Program Manager to support and oversee community-based sports programs throughout Southern California.


This position is ideal for someone with experience in program management, sports administration, event coordination, recreation, nonprofit programs, or community-based programming who enjoys working with staff, volunteers, schools, and families.


The Program Manager will help ensure programs are properly organized, staffed, and operating consistently across multiple locations while supporting continued growth, participation, and the organization's mission of creating positive opportunities for young athletes.


Responsibilities

  • Manage and support Program Coordinators across multiple program locations
  • Oversee Site Directors, Clinicians, Coaches, and other program staff
  • Recruit, onboard, and support volunteer Site Directors and Coaches
  • Hire and coordinate Clinicians and program instructors
  • Secure facility permits, insurance documentation, and other operational requirements
  • Train site leadership teams on administrative and operational procedures
  • Maintain accurate site records, program information, and documentation
  • Prepare reports, forms, and program materials as needed
  • Provide regular program updates to executive leadership
  • Build and maintain relationships with schools, community organizations, and local partners
  • Support outreach efforts to increase program participation
  • Monitor program locations to help maintain quality and consistency
  • Help troubleshoot operational challenges as they arise
  • Support special projects, events, and additional program initiatives as needed


Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in program management, sports management, event coordination, project management, recreation, nonprofit programming, or a related field
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service and relationship-building abilities
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, locations, and deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable communicating with staff, volunteers, parents, schools, and community partners
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications
  • Typing speed of at least 40 WPM
  • Valid California Driver's License
  • Reliable transportation and current auto insurance
  • Ability to travel locally throughout Southern California as needed


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Previous experience with youth sports, recreational leagues, nonprofit organizations, after-school programs, or community-based programs
  • Experience supervising staff or volunteers
  • Experience coordinating programs across multiple locations


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds without assistance
  • Ability to travel to program locations, schools, facilities, and community events as needed
