Description

Hill City Sports Center is seeking an experienced, energetic, and community-focused Programs Director to lead the development, implementation, staffing, and growth of sports, fitness, aquatics, and recreational programming. This leadership role is responsible for creating high-quality programs that enhance member engagement, support community involvement, and contribute to the overall success of the facility.

Position Summary

The Programs Director will oversee the planning, coordination, promotion, staffing, and evaluation of athletic and recreational programming for youth and adults. This individual will lead programs including volleyball, basketball, leagues, camps, clinics, and club sports while building strong relationships with coaches, athletes, families, and community partners.

Essentials Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee sports and recreational programming including:

    • Volleyball leagues and clinics

    • Basketball leagues and clinics

    • Youth and seasonal sports camps

    • Competitive volleyball club programs

    • Competitive basketball club programs

    • Recreational and developmental programming

  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise:

    • League staff

    • Sports camp coaches

    • Volleyball club coaches

    • Basketball club coaches

    • Program instructors and support staff

  • Create seasonal program calendars, tournaments, camps, clinics, and special events

  • Evaluate program participation, member feedback, and program performance to support growth and retention

  • Build relationships with local schools, teams, coaches, organizations, and community partners

  • Assist with marketing and promotion of programs through social media, outreach, and member engagement

  • Manage program scheduling, staffing coordination, budgets, registrations, and reporting

  • Ensure all programs maintain high standards for safety, professionalism, and member experience

  • Support facility-wide events, tournaments, and community initiatives

  • Identify opportunities for program expansion and revenue growth

Qualifications
  • Previous leadership experience in sports management, recreation, athletics, or youth programming required

  • Strong knowledge of volleyball and basketball programming preferred

  • Experience managing leagues, camps, clinics, or club sports programs

  • Experience supervising coaches, instructors, or program staff

  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to manage multiple programs and schedules simultaneously

  • Strong customer service and problem-solving abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in sports management, recreation, business, education, or related field preferred

  • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications preferred

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, and actively engage throughout the facility for extended periods

  • Ability to lift and move sports equipment and supplies as needed

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, tournaments, and special events when required
