Job description

About the Role Working within the Cougars Athletics and Recreation department, these are flexible positions whose work schedule is variable and may include an irregular schedule of not less than three (3) hours per shift and up to thirty-five (35) hours per week. These positions will end March 31, 2027. The Game Day Rover is a flexible, multi-skilled member of the MRU Cougars varsity event team who supports basketball, and volleyball operations by stepping into a variety of game day roles as needed.

This position is ideal for someone who is adaptable, proactive, and eager to gain broad experience across multiple areas of sport operations and media production. The Rover may be called upon to assist with tasks such as camera operation, scoreboard management, shot clock operation, statistics support, live streaming setup, 3-ball, scoresheet, or court setup and takedown. They serve as the first backup option for staff who are unavailable or require in-game assistance.

This role is perfect for students who are reliable, eager to learn new roles, and interested in growing their skills across multiple domains of varsity sport support. Responsibilities Set-up, test and use various gameday technology; troubleshoot as required Work with game officials and Game Day Supervisor as required Provide general support to all aspects of the Game Day Event as required Ensure all requirements and regulations set-out by Canada West and U SPORTS are met and followed with the Game Day team Fill in for roles of missing staff May include 3-ball rotation at volleyball games Qualifications 12 - 18 months of related experience Passion for sports with a strong knowledge of basketball, and volleyball Ability to work all shifts between Thursday - Sunday afternoons and evenings Highly motivated individual who can work well independently under pressure Commitment to time management and punctuality Strong focus and attention to detail and ability to adapt Ability to lift items of up to 50lbs on an occasional basis Salary: $15.45 - $19.44 per hour Closing Date: Open until a suitable candidate is found A resume and cover letter should be submitted in one .pdf document.
