Job description

The Opportunity

The Ottawa Senators are seeking an energetic, hard-working professional to join our team as the Manager, Operations. This is an excellent opportunity to join an NHL franchise at aManageriallevel which will allow the candidate to become fully engaged in the business of a major league sports team.


Reporting to the Director, Operations, the Manager, Operations of Canadian Tire Centre ("CTC")is responsible formaintainingall operational aspects of the building and the building grounds, through the efficient management of thefacility.

Key Responsibilities

Ongoing

  • Plan and direct conversion andgame dayteam memberson a daily basis, and event basis
  • Help coordinate setup requirements and technical requirements for events withappropriate teammembers and lessees
  • Participateoncommittees toassistwith event layouts, and otherspecial requirements
  • Responsible for ensuring that the assembly and disassembly of the arena bowl for events are properly executed
  • Ensure the interior and exterior of theCTCfacility are properlymaintainedon a continuous proactive basis
  • Responsible for reviewingall building work orders and ensuring repairs are scheduled accordingly
  • Ensureallpart-timetimecards, and payroll registers for conversion and custodial team members are verified and authorized
  • Provide leadership and direct supervisors and staff, ensuring all members areproperly trainedfor their position
  • Support on going internal projects, including large scaleCapExprojects
  • Ensure CTCis in compliance withHealth and Safety Regulations, and may act as a member of the OH&S committee
  • Oversee all NHL game requirements and make sure all duties and responsibilities arecompleted by our Game Day staff
  • Responsible formaintainingaccurateinventory of equipment, furniture, and supplies
  • Assistevent promoters with requests, and provide excellent customer service
  • Responsible for ensuring that theconversionareproperly staffed with the proper number of team memberspossessingthe required skillson a daily basisand on an event basis
  • Responsible for ensuring that the processes and procedures of the Operations department are updated,implementedand maintained


Health & Safety Responsibilitiesand Accountabilities

Responsible for ensuring that all areas covered by Occupational Health & Safety Act are adhered to,specifically;

  • Performing workplace inspections
  • Conducting safety information sessions
  • Assistingwith incident investigations
  • Ensuring that staff isproperly trainedand advised of safety hazards
  • Observing team members as they perform their duties to ensure safety measures are being followed, and ensuring corrective action is taken if safety measures are not being maintained
  • Recognizing team members who follow workplace safety


Qualifications (what we look for)

  • Minimum5years'previousexperience as a supervisor or manager inanoperations department of a public assembly facility
  • Knowledge of facility operations including drayage, decorators, maintenance, housekeeping, trades, audio/visual, electrical, food service,equipmentetc.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints, and schematics
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Proficient knowledge of the OH&S Act, Ontario specifically sections 25 & 26 of the Act
  • Two to five years of project management experience
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Basic bookkeeping knowledge
  • Mustpossesseffective oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings,weekendsand holidays
  • Basic spreadsheet and word processing skills
  • Team player

This role falls within a base salary range of $71,800 to $110,000 annually, consistent with the organization's established salary ranges. Salary ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to market data, internal equity, education, relevant experience, knowledge, and applicable skillset.
