Job description

Rhode Island FC, a professional soccer club competing in the USL Championship, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented college intern for the Summer 2026 season. This comprehensive internship program provides invaluable hands-on experience in the Communications department. Interns will gain direct exposure to the diverse functions that drive a professional sports organization, contributing to both day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives.
This position is for a seasonal internship, with a projected start date that can be flexible to align with academic calendars.
Educational Experience
  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program and eligible to receive college credit.
  • This internship is for college credit only and is limited to no more than 28 hours per week.

Qualifications
  • Prior experience in media relations, journalism, or public relations is a plus.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong AP style writing and editing skills.
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • A passion for sports, marketing, fan engagement, community involvement, and the business of live entertainment is preferred.

Requirements
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, game days, and events as needed is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Sharepoint, Outlook) and Google Workspace.
  • Familiarity with content management systems (e.g. WordPress) is highly preferred.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintaining accurate statistics and historical records for the club.
  • Assisting in managing gameday credentials and supporting press box operations.
  • Assisting with gameday media resource management and compilation.
  • Identifying compelling storylines and assisting with content creation.
  • Supporting press conference recording and transcription.
  • Assisting with the writing and editing of club materials as needed.
  • Writing and editing promotional materials.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and stretch for extended periods (up to 6-8 hours on event days).
  • Comfortable working in moderate to loud environments.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment (up to 25 lbs).
