Job description

The assistant sports information director assists the Assistant Athletics Director for Communications in all facets of sports information related to the University's 26 varsity sports, including the production of publications, writing press releases and post-game stories, updating the athletics department website, compiling team statistics and assisting with game day operations. In addition, the Assistant Sports Information Director will be responsible for promoting our athletic programs, managing media relations, and enhancing the visibility of our student-athletes and teams through various platforms. This position requires creativity, strong writing skills, and a passion for sports.
Work-Related Knowledge:
Working knowledge of the sport rules and regulations. Strong writing, editing, and communication skills. Proficiency in digital media tools, social media platforms, and statistical software. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, during sports seasons. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. A passion for sports and a commitment to promoting collegiate athletics.
Experience:
Previous sports information experience and experience in electronic or print media of 3 years or more
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Sport Management or a related field is required.
Valid driver's license required.
(Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience may be considered.)
