Description
Assists the Associate Athletic Director with creating and executing sports information coverage, as well as a communication/marketing strategy for athletic events. This internship is designed as a 10-month experience from August 1 to May 31. The appointment is for one year, with a possible one-year renewal. Candidate must be enrolled in Millikin University's MBA Program to be considered.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
  1. Will be a Sports Information contact for all sports (or will it be for only some sports)
  2. Assist with event management for home athletic events.
  3. Assist as a Social Media Coordinator by producing content for Millikin Athletic social media accounts.
  4. Assist with providing sports information coverage at home events.
  5. Assist with updating Millikin University Athletics web sites.
  6. Assist with reporting game results and information to opposition institution's sports information departments, CCIW Sports Information Director, NCAA, and local media outlets.
  7. Assist with producing streaming video broadcasts of Millikin athletic events.
  8. Assist with serving as a liaison with local media outlets to coordinate coverage of Millikin athletic events.
  9. Assist with producing athletic print publications.
  10. Assist with general athletic department office duties.
  11. Assist with NCAA Compliance issues and paperwork.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Athletic Director.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Qualifications
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to succeed in a result-driven professional organization. Maintaining professional performance, demeanor, team-approach and focus on results while working under pressure in a dynamic environment. Ability to establish priorities, work independently with minimal supervision, and facilitate teamwork. Highly organized, with the ability to plan, execute and multitask to meet deadlines. Must have a demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
Minimum Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor's Degree
• Must have general knowledge of a variety of sports and college athletics.
• The successful candidate must demonstrate effective and excellent leadership, motivational, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in a variety of social media platforms.
• Understanding and skill video production and graphic design is preferred.
• Ability to work within and contribute to the team effort of the Millikin University Athletic Department.
• A valid driver's license is required.
