Job description

Position Summary
The Sports Construction Foreman is responsible for overseeing daily field operations for athletic facility construction, court surfacing, and synthetic turf projects. This role manages field crews, coordinates equipment and materials, and ensures all work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to company quality standards.
Projects may include tennis courts, basketball courts, pickleball courts, running tracks, synthetic turf fields, fencing, drainage systems, site development, and related sports facility construction. The ideal candidate has strong leadership abilities and hands-on experience with court surfacing systems, turf field installation, grading, athletic facility construction, and crew management.
Key Responsibilities
Field Operations amp; Crew Leadership
  • Lead and supervise field crews on sports construction, court surfacing, and turf field projects.
  • Coordinate daily jobsite activities, manpower, equipment, subcontractors, and material deliveries.
  • Assign tasks and monitor crew productivity, workmanship, and project progress.
  • Train and mentor crew members on installation procedures, equipment operation, and safety practices.
  • Maintain project schedules and communicate updates to Project Managers and Superintendents.
Court Surfacing, Turf amp; Athletic Facility Construction
gt;Oversee installation, resurfacing, and repair of:
  • Tennis courts
  • Basketball courts
  • Pickleball courts
  • Multi-sport courts
  • Running tracks
  • Synthetic turf athletic fields
  • Recreational and athletic facilities
gt;Supervise site preparation including:
  • Grading and excavation
  • Stone base installation
  • Asphalt and concrete preparation

  • Crack repair and patching
  • Surface preparation and cleaning
gt;Manage installation of synthetic turf systems including:
  • Base preparation and compaction
  • Turf layout and seaming
  • Infill installation
  • Field striping and layout
  • Final grooming and quality checks
gt;Manage application of acrylic coatings, textured surfaces, color systems, and athletic surfacing materials.
gt;Ensure proper field and court layout, striping, elevations, slopes, and finish quality.
gt;Monitor weather conditions and curing requirements during installation operations.
Quality Control
  • Ensure all work meets project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and company quality standards.
  • Verify proper elevations, drainage, slopes, and surface consistency.
  • Inspect completed work for coating uniformity, seam quality, line accuracy, turf installation quality, and overall workmanship.
  • Identify and resolve field issues proactively to avoid schedule delays or quality concerns.
Safety amp; Compliance
  • Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and jobsite hazard assessments.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE, equipment, and safe work practices.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe jobsites at all times.
Communication amp; Coordination
  • Serve as the primary on-site contact between field crews and project management.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, inspections, deliveries, and equipment needs.
  • Complete daily reports documenting labor, progress, delays, weather, and material usage.
  • Communicate jobsite challenges and scheduling impacts promptly.
Equipment amp; Material Management
gt;Operate and oversee use of construction and surfacing equipment including:
  • Skid steers
  • Excavators
  • Rollers and compactors
  • Line stripers
  • Spray systems
  • Mixers
  • Laser grading equipment
  • Turf installation tools and equipment
  • General construction equipment
gt;Ensure proper maintenance and care of company vehicles, tools, and equipment.

gt;Track material inventory and coordinate jobsite supply needs.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of foreman or crew leadership experience in sports construction, turf installation, court surfacing, sitework, or related construction fields preferred.
  • Experience with synthetic turf systems, athletic court surfacing systems, and sports facility construction strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of grading, drainage, base installation, asphalt/concrete preparation, coatings application, and athletic surface installation.
  • Ability to read blueprints, grading plans, field layouts, court layouts, and construction specifications.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and construction best practices.
  • Ability to operate construction equipment preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
