Job description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Sporting Goods Store Manager to lead our small but professional retail team. The applicant can be retired semi retired, but must be a experienced retail leader. The ideal candidate will oversee daily store operations, drive sales, manage inventory, and ensure exceptional customer service. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a passion for sports and outdoor activities. The Store Manager will be responsible for maintaining a positive shopping environment, supervising staff, and implementing effective merchandising strategies to meet business goals. Sportsworld is located in scenic North East Nevada. The community is a wonderful place to live and raise a family with plenty of recreational opportunity. Ely has a small town feel but still plenty to do with outdoor activities!

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the store team, including training, and evaluating employees to foster a motivated and productive work environment.
  • Oversee daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and POS transactions.
  • Conduct employee orientation, training & development programs to enhance team skills in customer service, sales techniques, and product knowledge.
  • Handle customer inquiries, resolve complaints efficiently, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate shift management to ensure proper staffing levels during peak hours.
  • Utilize management skills such as negotiation, pricing strategies, retail math, and sales management to maximize profitability.
  • Maintain organized records of inventory levels, sales reports, and administrative documentation.
  • Implement merchandising plans aligned with marketing initiatives to attract customers and promote seasonal or promotional products.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies while fostering a safe shopping environment.

Qualifications

  • Proven management experience in retail or sporting goods stores with supervisory responsibilities.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and develop talent.
