Job description

GENERAL PURPOSE

Responsible for assisting in the overall operation of athletic leagues and events.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Minimum 14 years old with a strong background in athletics preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Supervise and communicate with participants, parents, and coaches on site.
  2. Keep score using various scoreboards during athletic games.
  3. Utilize concession equipment while preparing and serving food items.
  4. Plan, organize and supervise specific athletic programs.
  5. Assist with field maintenance tasks.
  6. Set-up equipment and secure supplies.
  7. Maintain inventory of equipment/supplies and report damages that occur.
  8. Serve as liaison between participants and District.
  9. Assist in overseeing opening and closing procedures.
  10. Monitor status of playing field during inclement weather.
  11. Provide a high quality of customer service in a professional manner to the internal customer that will facilitate team building and exceptional customer service to the external customer.
  12. Follow the Wheaton Park District policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  13. Proactively support the V.A.L.U.E.S. (integrity, fun, commitment, adaptability and growth, kindness, and service) on a daily basis.
  14. Organize, live, demonstrate, and implement the Character Counts program for coaches and parents.
  15. Maintain good safety awareness and follow all safety guidelines and procedures

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, ETC.

Must have and maintain: CPR/AED certified or obtained within one (1) year of employment. Be a Mandated Reporter for the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to: frequently move about the athletic area for long periods of time with occasional stationary periods, and position ones self to assist participants, move across uneven ground and ascend/descend stairs/ladder, and move items such as various sports equipment, etc. weighing up to 25 lbs. and overhead and shoulders weighing up to 10 lbs.

ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

Must be able to: occasionally be exposed to all weather conditions including biting and stinging insects and bugs and move over mud, wet, or slippery surfaces.

SALARY

$15.00 - $17.00 per hour DOE
