Job description

We are looking for an experienced Shipper (1st shift) to join our team in Danielson, CT. This role is 100% on site.

The Shipper is primarily responsible for preparation of shipments of finished products to customers and miscellaneous items from the plant. The shipper is expected to prepare the shipment in such a way to ensure safe arrival at the destination, using either the customer's designated carrier or the most practical carrier available.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that all items prepared for shipment are properly identified on the documentation accompanying the shipment.
  • Ensure that all items prepared for shipment are packed in shipping containers in a manner to protect against damage during shipment and that containers used are constructed and secured properly to ensure safe arrival under normal shipping/handling conditions.
  • Ensure that all documentation required with the shipment is enclosed with the shipment, including the packing slip, certifications, customer required forms, export papers, and any other required paperwork.
  • Ensure that all shipping destination paperwork is filled out completely and legibly, including bills of lading, carrier logs or forms, packing slips, and address labels. Multiple shipping containers must be identified properly.
  • Ensure that the customer designated carrier is used when appropriate or that the preferred SPIROL carrier is used when a customer preference is not indicated. Choice of non-designated carrier should be determined by service area, package size or weight limitations, cost, and urgency of delivery.
  • Ensure that all available shipments are made on or before the planned ship date and that expedited orders are shipped as soon as received in the Shipping Department.

Our requirements for this role include:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds repetitively.
  • Able to safely operate a forklift truck within 60 days of employment.
