Description

Has primary responsibility for management of the practicum program as part of The Elizabeth Hospice Bereavement Program. Conducts group and individual supervision for MFT, MSW, PCC trainees, and associates in the Grief Counseling Center. Collaborates with bereavement staff/leaders and other departments to meet strategic goals. Ensures trainees and associates adequately meet the needs of grieving clients, those with serious illness, anticipated losses, relevant to all ages of clients, etc. Provides supervisory role for staff counselors. Maintains a caseload of clients (hospice and community).

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

Salary: $75,000-$90,000 annually Subject to experience and qualifications. Work Location: San Diego, CA

Travel: Travel is required for patient visits

Requirements

Responsibilities:

1. Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates the practicum program that serves a diverse client population including hospice and community clients of all ages, based on community and professional needs assessment.

2. Provides individual and group supervision for students on a regular basis, maintaining documentation for each intern to abide by BBS standards. Regularly observes counselor's client sessions and/or group meetings to give feedback and provide quarterly evaluations.

3. In cooperation with the Bereavement staff, the Clinical Counselor Program Supervisor and the Lead Clinical Counselor Program Supervisor, assures that bereavement counseling services and related documentation are fully compliant.

4. Collaborates with the Bereavement team and other supervisor staff on case assignments.

5. Identifies the need for new groups and services to meet the department and organizational strategic goals. Facilitates grief support groups as needed.

6. Develops quality measures and outcome indicators, documents, and assessment tools for the practicum program.

7. Assumes responsibility for recruitment, interviewing, performance of, contracting with candidates and maintaining relationships with universities.

8. Develops and implements onboarding, orientation, training, education, monitoring of competencies, and EMR documentation audits to meet agency standards. Monitor and track intern HR files.

9. Responsible for contributing to department statistical reports on counselor's work and counseling services.

10. Maintains a caseload of counseling (hospice and community) clients and assists with high acuity and challenging cases as needed.

11. Shares responsibility for fiscal soundness of practicum program, counseling services, and support groups with department leaders.

12. Prepares and presents periodic status reports related to counseling services and documentation audits. Evaluates the benefit and outcomes of counseling programs and reports results at compliance and department meetings.

13. Plans and implements professional development activities for counselors in collaboration with other bereavement and hospice staff.

14. Represents the agency's bereavement services and related programs with community-based organizations. This includes attending mental health and university events and providing presentations to local community partners and internal clients.

15. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to attending IDG clinical weekly team meetings, attending agency memorial events, and assisting with Camp Spero.


Qualifications:

1. LMFT required. AAMFT Approved Supervisor status preferred. Minimum two (2) years' experience with intern supervision required.

2. LCSW or LPCC required.

3. Minimum of three (3) years' experience in group process and individual counseling, preferably in a hospice setting.

4. A minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or management experience required.

s. Current driver's license and proof of auto insurance.
