Middle School Health Teacher, Part-Time
Part time (25%)

Overview
Spence seeks a skilled educator to build on the school's valued history of supporting student wellness as
an integral part of their academic success. As a health teacher, the person in this role will teach required
Middle School health classes.
Responsibilities:
• Teach approximately 5-6 Middle School Health classes per week
• Deliver established health curriculum while being responsive to student questions
• Collaborate with the Head of Health and Wellness
Qualifications:
• Finds joy in working with young people and in school life
• Demonstrates pedagogical skill and an appreciation for the science and the craft of teaching
• Demonstrates cultural competency and skills engaging with and learning from people with
diverse backgrounds and experiences
• Possesses an advanced degree or equivalent experience in Health Education
• Possesses knowledge of and experience with: positive identity development of girls, sexuality
education/adolescent sexual health, substance use, and body image
• Has experience working with Middle School students in a teaching capacity
• Has experience establishing clear boundaries for a respectful and interactive classroom
environment
• Has excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing
• Regards collaboration as an essential component of professional growth
• Approaches work with optimism, energy, kindness, and a sense of humor
