Job Summary:
Sierra is creating a platform to help businesses build better customer experiences with AI. They are seeking a Software Engineer specializing in voice technology to develop speech recognition and synthesis solutions, as well as integrate telephony systems.
Responsibilities:
• Transcription: How do we enable accurate speech-to-text and automatic speech recognition across 100s of languages? What infrastructure do we need to do this at low latency?
• Synthesis: How do we generate speech that is precise and matches each customer’s desired brand and style?
• Runtime: How do we adapt our agentic loop to accept real-time streams of audio, instead of just text? How do we ensure we handle interruptions, disconnects, and transfers reliably?
• Scaling: Build the infrastructure to enable Sierra to handle millions of calls a day.
• Telephony: Build real-time integrations to telephony systems and call centers to enable Sierra to pick up the phone, and make outbound phone calls, reliably.
Qualifications:
Required:
• A passion for being on the frontier of AI products.
• Motivation and high-agency to drive outcomes - we have a high-autonomy culture and each team member has lots of agency to overcome obstacles and achieve customer impact.
• Alignment to our company values throughout your work, notably finding a balance between Craftsmanship, Customer Obsession, and Competitive Intensity.
• 4+ years hands-on experience building production products and systems.
• Experience and comfort to build and ship full-stack solutions.
• Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Experience building AI-powered products.
• A sharp eye for design.
• Experience with Go and Typescript.
• Experience building developer tooling, programming languages, or databases.
• Leadership experience on technical projects or teams.
