Overview

Shift's Available: Days

Employment Type: Per Diem/PRN

Hours: 8 hour shift (Some Weekends will be required) 

Location: Saint John Hospital, Leavenworth, KS

A Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) specializes in diagnosing and treating speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders. SLP work with individuals of all ages to improve communication skills and enhance quality of life by developing and implementing individualized treatment plans.  Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) work closely with other healthcare professionals and educate patients and family members about communication strategies to health improve speech in the patient's daily life.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Assess and diagnose speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.

  • Provide therapy to improve articulation, fluency, voice disorders, and language comprehension.

  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other relevant professionals.

  • Maintain detailed records of patient evaluation, treatment, and progress.

  • Educate clients and family members about communication strategies.

  • Stay updated on clinical research and advances in speech-language pathology.

Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have: 

  • Graduate of an accredited college or university with Bachelor's in Speech Therapy
  • Licensed by the state in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Current BLS for healthcare provider's certification upon hire and maintain current

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus: 

  • MS degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • One year of experience with swallow assessment and treatment in an acute care hospital setting
  • One year of experience in acute care
