Job Description

ProSidian Seeks a Chemical Engineer - Engineering (DA106) (Time and Materials | Exempt Engagement Team - Program Manager Level) to support an engagement for a liquid waste contractor (Savannah River Remediation [SRMC]) at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC, which is owned by the U.S. Department of Energy. - DA106 | Prof.  This position is located in the Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina Area. 

Chemical Engineer - Engineering (DA106) Candidates shall work to support requirements for TBC (Engineering Services) and statement of work (SOW) while maintaining required qualifications Nuclear & Environmental Management Sector.  ProSidian Team Members (# FTe's: 1) work as part of the Chemical Engineer Engagement Team Cadre to serve as a Chemical Process Engineer responsible for performing a variety of Chemical Engineering assignments including design, manufacture, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of diverse process equipment and systems, or development of chemical process, and generally as a member of a design, construction, operations or review team on more complex assignments or as a lead on less complex assignments.  Support an engagement for a liquid waste contractor (Savannah River Remediation [SRMC]) at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC, which is owned by the U.S. Department of Energy. 

ProSidian Chemical Engineers, or Chemical Process Engineers, oversee the process of converting raw materials into new products/services/deliverables in fields such as environmental conservation, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, energy and consumer Nuclear, Energy, and Environmental Management Sector. Their duties include designing procedures to isolate different chemical elements and reconfigure them, testing the resulting products/services/deliverables and designing equipment setups for optimal safety and efficiency.  This service supports Environmental Management Sector Clients (For Present / Future Requirements) and ProSidian Team Members work as part of an Engagement Team Cadre to fulfill Chemical Engineering requirements.  Chemical Engineer Provide Chemical Engineering support for chemical and process systems.  Chemical Engineer Candidates shall work to support requirements for a Chemical Engineer (Chemical Engineering Services). 

The Chemical Engineer is responsible for perform a variety of Chemical Engineering assignments including design, manufacture, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of diverse process equipment and systems, or development of chemical process, and generally as a member of a design, construction, operations or review team on more complex assignments or as a lead on less complex assignments.  Chemical Engineers perform many scientific and technical related to the process of Nuclear, Energy, and Environmental Management Sector products/services/deliverables. Some of their typical duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following worksite functionalities (Specific Task Order Performance Work Statements May supersede listed tasks for this role):

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform a range of Chemical Engineering and design development, construction/installation, operation, or review tasks while working independently and/or providing supervision of contributing Chemical Engineers.
  • Acts as and is recognized as a company/industry expert resource on the most complex Chemical Engineering problems.
  • Conduct site visits and experimental investigations and analyze Chemical Engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations in .
  • Coordinate and work closely with other Chemical Engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements.
  • Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.
  • Direct interface and liaison with internal and external customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
  • Chemical Engineering services will be provided using liquid waste and Savannah River Site (SRS) processes and procedures.
  • Chemical Engineering support services include Chemical Engineering analysis, walkdowns, design development and generation of design output documents and process flow diagrams.
  • Establish and maintain a filing system or databases as needed for tracking project status.
  • Generate complete design specifications for the most complex projects.
  • Generates facility design description documents and system design descriptions, conducts major technical alternative studies.
  • Identifies system concepts and determines system functional and technical requirements, develops and analyses process flowsheets, conducts process analyses, monitors system performance, troubleshoots and resolves problems and ensures operation within technical and safety basis requirements.
  • May lead Chemical Engineering teams and act as a mentor to Chemical Engineering team members.
  • May provide technical management and leadership to a group of employees for a given project, contract or job with overall responsibility for cost, schedule technical and employee performance.
  • May train other Chemical Engineers on technical issues related to the research, design, development, testing and analysis of Chemical Engineering assignments.
  • Prepare, deliver and submit technical papers and perform Chemical Engineering studies.
  • Programmatic guidance will be provided by liquid waste.
  • Proposes and development process/system improvements including flowsheet changes, equipment upgrades and plant modifications.
  • Responsible for complete designs, , construction/installation, operation, or design reviews independently or as a team leader.
  • Support development of technical proposal and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.
  • Verify and comply with Chemical Engineering documentation standards and test procedures.
  • Work as Chemical Engineering technical resource supporting work processes as part of overall design authority work processes, and help to prepare system modification input documents, provides technical input (e.g., For procedure development) and approves work packages, and advises operations/maintenance/project management for optimizing day to day operations.
  • Developing Nuclear, Energy, and Environmental Management Sector processes that minimize waste and increase the quality of finished products/services/deliverables
  • Monitoring and testing processes and products/services/deliverables found in all phases of production
  • Developing and implementing safety procedures for staff working with hazardous materials
  • Designing, planning and implementing the layout of Nuclear, Energy, and Environmental Management Sector equipment to optimize production and decrease costs
  • Staying up to date with new and emerging Nuclear, Energy, and Environmental Management Sector processes
  • Creating and presenting cost analysis reports to upper management
  • Perform all other chemical process position related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor Of Science Degree In Chemical Engineering With 10 Years Of Experience In An Chemical Engineering Or Operation Setting.
  • Experience With Process Systems In Operations, Field Or Design Work.

  • Due To The Nature Of Work, Candidate Must Be A US Citizen.
  • Experience With DOE
  • Experience In Construction, Testing, And Project Turnover
  • PE License Preferred
  • Candidate Should Be Able To Obtain A DOE Q Clearance

3.6 Personnel Qualifications/Certifications --- all personnel shall have demonstrated experience in Nuclear Safety, Criticality, Radiological Engineering, Health Physics, Fire Protection, or Engineering Technical Support.  These individuals must have U.S. citizenship and the ability to maintain DOE site access.

3.6.1 Nuclear and Criticality Safety --- IMC Contractor/SRS or other DOE complex experience is preferred.

Criticality personnel are required to obtain or have SRS Nuclear Criticality Safety qualifications (e.g., Criticality Safety Engineer (CSE), Senior Criticality Safety Engineer (SCSE), Criticality Safety Officer (CSO), Associate Criticality Safety Engineer (ACSE)).

Radiological Engineering and Health Physics personnel are required to achieve/maintain applicable SRS qualifications.

3.6.2 Fire Protection: Fire protection personnel shall be ---

 1. Registered professional engineer in an engineering discipline that encompasses the scope of work being performed. Or

2. Certified National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level III in the applicable NICET subfield for the subject fire protection system (i.e., water-based systems layout, fire alarm systems, inspection and testing of water-based systems, special hazards suppression

systems, or special hazards suppression systems, or special hazards systems).

Or

3. Manufacturer/Factory trained and certified for the subject fire protection systems/feature. Or

4. Graduate of an accredited engineering curriculum with a minimum of four (4) years of engineering practice, three (3) of which are in design that encompasses the subject fire protection system.

3.6.3 Engineering Technical Support --- IMC Contractor/SRS or other DOE complex experience is preferred.

TRAVEL:  Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings, events, site visits, or other training requirements.  Travel is coordinated with the technical point of contact and approved in writing by the Contracting Officer in advance, as allowed, in accordance with Federal Travel Regulations. 

LOCATION:  Work shall be conducted at or in proximity to Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina

WORK HOURS: A 40 hour work week is scheduled. SRS utilizes various work schedules; including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and a 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B). Work week excludes SRS holidays. Each work day has a 30-minute lunch.
