Buffer Operator

Job Title: Buffer Operator
Basic Function
It is the function of the Buffer Operator to run the buffing equipment ensuring that all treads are given quality buff.
Minimum Requirements
1. Ability to work a 12-hour shift beginning either 7AM or 7PM.
2. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
3. Ability to stand for duration of shift.
4. Ability to be a team player.
5. Ability to handle tread rolls 40 - 180 repeatedly.
Principal Duties (additional duties may be assigned)
1. Pick up the ticket from the tread stack and walk to next post for inspection and set up.
2. Un-wrap the tread stack by cutting the plastic wrap.
3. Pull one tread roll off the stack, flip it and roll it on to the roll trough.
4. Pull the open end of the tread roll and feed it into the End Buffer (first buffer).
5. Take the same end after it slides out of the end buffer and feed it into the Main Buffer (second buffer)
6. Monitor the controls on the left side of the machine to adjust and/or sharpen the buffer.
7. Repeat the task until each roll is run through the machines.
8. After emptying each pallet, pull and drag the empty pallet on to the area designated for empty pallet.
9. storage until forklift driver picks them up.
10. Push the next full pallet closer to the machine on the pallet indexer.
11. Repeat the process 1-9.
12. In case of a jam, push the stop button to halt the line, lock it in place and walk to the side to raise hood.
Sharpening the brush:
13. Walk to the side of the machine.
14. Lift the brush sharpener from its storage stand.
15. Move to each brush (5 total) and place the sharpener inside the machine.
16. Use the twist knob to allow sharpening for short intervals, repetitions.
17. Return the brush sharpener to the storage stand.
