Job description

We're seeking an experienced Foundry Specialist to partner with our leadership team in day-to-day foundry operations. This is a hands-on role for someone who's spent real time on the melt deck and can serve as a technical resource for the rest of the crew. You'll help drive quality, throughput, and safety while mentoring less-experienced team members.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor induction melting furnaces, including charge make-up, temperature control, and tapping
  • Run the spectrometer, interpret results, and make chemistry adjustments to hit spec
  • Lead and participate in furnace relining, patching, and routine refractory maintenance
  • Support the leadership team with production planning, troubleshooting, and process improvement
  • Help enforce safety standards around molten metal handling, PPE, and equipment lockout
  • Train and coach operators on melting practices, charge calculations, and quality checks
  • Maintain accurate heat records, chemistry logs, and production documentation

Required Qualifications

  • Previous experience operating induction melting furnaces in a foundry environment
  • Experience with furnace relining procedures
  • Proficiency in operating a spectrometer for chemical analysis
  • Basic shop math skills (fractions, decimals, percentages, unit conversions)
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and work in a high-heat environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in stainless steel melting and casting
  • Knowledge of metallurgy and alloy composition
  • Experience reading and interpreting work orders and production schedules

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods during shift
  •  Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis and occasionally more
  • Ability to work in a high-heat environment near furnaces and molten metal
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
