Job Summary

Encompasses research and testing of materials and their related fabrications and applications processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering applications in structures, systems, and subsystems. Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material structures. Analyzes, researches, and test materials and their related fabrications and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering applications in structures, systems, and subsystems. Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material structures. Determines metallic, non-metallic, and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication, and assembly processes. Develops material properties and designs allowable, processing processes, and quality engineering specifications. Requirements: Sound knowledge of the job and a substantial acquaintance with the general aspects of the job. Intermediate level technical understanding. Implements standard procedures and proposes intermediate level modifications to improve workflow. Still generally obtains input to solve more complex problems. Works under general site supervision. Able to gather information independently using established and defined procedures. Able to train new employees to established procedures. Takes initiative in the area of continuous improvement. Uses some discretion. Contacts are typically within the organization. May occasionally have contacts with others outside of the organization to seek clarity or ask for interpretation.

Job Description

Day to Day Responsibilities:

         Perform wet etching/coating process and experiments, monitor experiment and process, and give feedback as needed.

         Involvement with experimental design, communicate monitored process observation, perform the related measurement and collect measurement data.

         Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite in support of experiment data collection and analysis.

         Develop and update operation and experiment SOP and related documents.

         Assist in the organization and management of lab inventory, prioritize experiments.

         Submit samples to other surface-related measurements and compiling data.

         Support lab safety programs to provide a safe working environment and comply with the Client's environmental policy.

Required Skills (These are skills that candidates MUST possess)

         Technically curious, self-motivated, and passionate about learning and can work with minimal supervision.

         Strong organization skills and able to handle multiple tasks.

         Keen on experimental observation, ability to understand key process drivers, and connect with observation.

         Ability to understand data and communicate experiment observation, and results from data.

         Strong work ethic and desire to exceed expectations.

Desired Skills (These are skills that would be nice for candidates to possess)

         Prefer experience in wet process and basic surface measurement, such as a microscope.

         Knowledge in material processing, especially in glass and coating related.

Qualifications

Education: AAS in a technical area such as chemistry, chemical engineering, and material science.

Desired Experience: 3+ Years.
