Job description

Oversees front-end (pre-analytic) laboratory operations processes including phlebotomy, lab assistants, and technical support staff. Responsible for all front-end laboratory processes including phlebotomy, specimen processing, sendout/referred testing. Responsible for the quality and quantity of work performed by phlebotomists, lab assistants and non-technical support staff. Will oversee all aspects of reference lab/sendout testing.   • Minimum Requirements
    • Experience: 3 years of phlebotomy or specimen processing (pre-analytic) experience with increasing responsibility in an acute care facility
    • Education: High School Graduate or equivalent
    • Certifications: Phlebotomy Certification where state law requires.
  • Preferred Requirements
    • Certifications: Completion of formal phlebotomy training program and/or national phlebotomy certification through ASCP, ANP, ASPT or similar preferred.

  • Conflict resolution skills are exercised and occasionally on an interdepartmental or inter functional basis
  • Diplomacy, tact and listening skills are required
  • Ability to read and comprehend policies and technical materials in the Laboratory area is necessary
  • Technical and non-technical knowledge of laboratory operations and processes, including phlebotomy and specimen collection
  • Working Knowledge of computer applications with special focus on word and spreadsheet applications
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of process improvement skills and concepts
