Job description

Phlebotomist II

This is a float position requiring coverage across various sites, including Murrieta, Temecula, Perris, Hemet, and Menifee. The location of coverage can change daily based on staffing needs. The primary function of this role is to perform various phlebotomy-related duties, troubleshoot, train, and recommend workflow improvements.

Responsibilities
  • Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens.
  • Record maintenance data and ensure decontamination procedures are followed.
  • Update patient information and collect/store specimens according to established procedures.
  • Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
  • Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
  • Understand and follow all physician orders accurately.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and label specimens correctly.
  • Prepare and package specimens for transport, ensuring the integrity of the specimen is maintained.
  • Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department training.
  • Answer telephone inquiries and provide laboratory results as needed.
Essential Skills
  • Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
  • Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • CPT License
  • BLS Certification
  • Flexibility to float to various locations, including Hemet, Murrieta, Moreno Valley, with potential for Temecula and Fallbrook.
Work Environment

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.11 - $23.11/hr.
