Job description

Schedule: 7:00AM to 3:00 PM
Position Summary/ Department Summary:

Under the direction of the Manager of Sterile Processing Quality and Education, this position develops and maintains training programs for all SPD and Endoscopy staff, delivers training to participants, evaluates progress and skill attainment of individual participants on a scheduled basis, tracks outcomes, coordinates and documents competency records, and maintains all certification records for all staff. Develops, implements, evaluates, and revises programs of orientation, progression pipelines, in-service training, workshops, and continuing education for SPD and Endoscopy staff. Performs a range of clinical, consultative, and educational activities within the Perioperative, Sterile Processing, and Endoscopy areas.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develops and implements interactive, scenario-based learning programs for sterile processing and endoscopy-related responsibilities.
  • Conducts and incorporates an annual needs assessment for competency of staff. Assesses the competency and evaluates the proficiency of the sterile processing and endoscopy staff.
  • Utilizes a variety of training methodologies, techniques, concepts, learning tools, and practices to ensure maximum effectiveness of training programs.
  • Monitors, measures, and communicates effectiveness of training programs.
  • Documents training outcomes and reports issues.
  • Assesses traineesโ€™ abilities, skills, and learning outcomes.
  • Revises and updates online course work, competencies, etc. based on departmental changes that are in line with new regulations.
  • Provides individualized orientation and education for all instrument care, SPD, and Endoscopy staff in conjunction with the Perioperative Education staff.
  • Provides education and support for the perioperative departments. Provide updates to perioperative staff regarding instrument processing, point of use care for instruments, instrument tray care, and functionality of instruments.
  • Oversees new hire orientation for the sterile processing departments.
  • Maintains education calendar of all mandatory and site/vendor-specific education presentations.

Minimum Qualifications
Certification/Registration Required:
  • Current certification from HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution )
  • CER (Certified Endoscopy Reprocessor), CIS (Certified Instrument Specialist), and CHL (Certified Healthcare Leadership) (Preferred)
Education:
Education Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent experience

  • Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)

Work Experience Required:

  • Five years of experience in SPD with 2 years as Supervisor/manager in SPD and at least 3 years as SPD Tech

The posted pay range is Boston Childrenโ€™s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
