What is a sterilization tech?

Sterilization Technicians, also known as sterile processing technicians, are healthcare professionals responsible for cleaning, sterilizing, assembling, and distributing medical instruments and equipment. They play a critical role in preventing infections by ensuring all surgical tools and devices are free from harmful microorganisms. Sterilization Techs work in hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities, supporting medical teams by maintaining strict sterilization standards. Their work is essential for patient safety and the smooth operation of medical procedures.

What are the most common challenges a sterilization tech faces during a typical workday?

Sterilization Techs often encounter challenges such as managing high volumes of instruments under tight deadlines and ensuring strict adherence to sterilization protocols. Attention to detail is crucial, as even minor lapses can compromise patient safety.
