The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Planner/Data Analyst to join our SFO office, contributing to a wide range of public and private sector projects including strategic planning for jurisdictions, regions, agencies, school districts and public institutions. The work is inclusive of facility planning, corridor and master planning, public and stakeholder engagement, and policy/area plan development. This role will involve analysis, mapping, diagramming and data visualization, while working closely with Project team leads for overall information management and decision support. The ideal candidate will be proficient in urban planning concepts, evaluation tools and methodologies, spatial analysis and the applicable regulatory environment and is comfortable managing complex datasets to provide actionable insights to move projects forward.

Primary Responsibilities:

Project Coordination and Controls: Work on multiple planning and strategy projects for a variety of public clients, ensuring efficient project execution and integration with Perkins Eastmans cross disciplinary teams.

Data Analysis: Conduct data analysis and data visualization efforts across concurrent projects, utilizing platforms such as R, Power BI, and Tableau.

Urban Planning and Policy Development: Conduct planning level spatial and demographic analysis and apply data processing using tools such as ESRI ArcGIS Pro, Near Map, QGIS, and Mapbox.

Web Development and Communications: Create as needed web-based tools to support decision making, ensuring functionality and user-friendly interfaces. including dashboards, information graphics and storytelling.

Presentations, Workshops and Project Deliverables: Develop and share Consultant findings with clients and stakeholders in workshops, and off-hour public events. Assist team members in the creation of related deliverables, summaries, memos, reports, visuals and as needed forms of communication.

Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with project team members to ensure alignment and smooth workflow.

Required Qualifications

  • Masters or Bachelors degree, 3 years of professional experience in urban planning and/or architecture fields
  • Understanding core principles of performance management and equity analysis
  • Experience conducting GIS analysis, web development, and database management.
  • Experience with Python or other programming languages for data analysis and GIS workflows is a plus.
  • Experience with data visualization platforms such as Power BI and Tableau.
  • Proven ability to process and analyze large data sets for planning and decision-making purposes.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience in web-based application development and UX/UI design for web and mobile platforms preferred.
  • Knowledge of spatial data standards and best practices preferred.

Salary Range: $81k to $90k
