Job description

Position Overview

Peaceful Paths Therapy is actively seeking a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) to join our team as a full-time, remote therapist. The ideal candidate will have expertise in providing therapeutic services to families and children facing developmental disabilities and intellectual challenges. Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is preferred, as our goal is to offer culturally competent care to a diverse client base. This role presents a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their families while working in a supportive and dynamic environment.

About the Organization

At Peaceful Paths Therapy, we believe in the potential of every individual to lead a fulfilling life, despite challenges they may face. Our organization specializes in providing comprehensive youth and family support services, particularly to caregivers of children and adolescents with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Situated in Brooklyn, New York, we pride ourselves on creating a safe and inclusive space for both our clients and our therapists. We are committed to ongoing training and professional development to ensure our therapeutic practices remain impactful and relevant.

Work Environment

This full-time role allows for a flexible work arrangement within a remote context. Our therapists conduct sessions in a community health clinic setting or offer in-home therapy services as needed. While the flexibility of remote work encourages a balanced approach to work and personal life, the connection with clients and collaboration with team members remains integral to our mission. You will have access to professional resources and continuous support, enhancing your ability to deliver quality care to families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct individual therapy sessions in clients' homes or facilitate group therapy sessions at outpatient facilities.
  • Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques to address behavioral issues, teach coping skills, and foster social skills.
  • Design and implement treatment plans tailored to each child's unique circumstances, focusing on reducing high-risk behaviors such as self-injury or aggression.
  • Work collaboratively with Child Family Treatment Teams, engaging with other professionals to deliver holistic support to youth and families.
  • Document client interactions and therapeutic progress meticulously, submitting all required documentation (intake forms, treatment plans, progress notes) within established timeframes.
  • Participate in monthly meetings, providing insights and contributing to continuous service improvement efforts.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on children and adolescents aged 3-20 who exhibit developmental and intellectual disabilities. You will also work closely with their caregivers, equipping them with strategies to manage behavioral challenges effectively and improving decision-making skills within the home context. This role emphasizes providing culturally sensitive services, especially to those whose primary language may be Spanish or Portuguese.

Qualifications
  • A Masterโ€™s degree in Counseling, Family Therapy, Social Work, or a related field.
  • An active and unrestricted Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) license.
  • Availability for a minimum of 5-10 hours per week during late afternoon/evening hours (4-7 pm), with some weekend availability considered advantageous.
  • A valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle are required for home-based therapy sessions.
  • Successful completion of a comprehensive background check that includes fingerprinting.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in providing support for positive behavior interventions and strategies.
  • Prior experience working with populations of children aged 3-20, especially those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Familiarity with therapeutic methodologies specific to child and family therapy.
Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position ranges from USD 60,000 to 80,000 per year, commensurate with experience and education. Peaceful Paths Therapy offers a competitive benefits package that includes comprehensive health coverage, annual paid time off, short-term and long-term disability options, and a 401K plan, ensuring our team is well-supported both personally and professionally.

Career Growth Opportunities

At Peaceful Paths Therapy, we are committed to fostering your professional development. With ongoing job training and access to resources for continuing education, you will have numerous opportunities to expand your skills and advance in your career within the field of therapy. Our organization encourages innovation, collaboration, and the professional growth necessary to thrive in this rewarding field.

Why Join Our Team

Joining Peaceful Paths Therapy means becoming a part of a dedicated team of professionals committed to making a difference in the community. Our supportive work culture values compassion, open communication, and shared growth. You will have the opportunity to work directly with children and families, positively impacting their lives while benefiting from a flexible and rewarding work environment.
