Summary
The CAD and Space Systems Specialist plays a key role in maintaining an accurate and reliable picture of the organization's physical space by managing the integration of CAD drawings, space data, and occupancy information. The role partners with facilities, planning, and operational teams to ensure facility information remains current, supports strategic decision-making, and reflects real-world conditions across the organization. By leveraging expertise in CAD, space management systems, and data governance, this position helps optimize space utilization, support renovations and growth initiatives, and provide valuable insights for facility planning and operations. The ideal candidate enjoys combining technical expertise, field validation, and cross-functional collaboration to improve data accuracy, streamline processes, and drive informed space management decisions.
Minimum Education:
Associate's Degree in Drafting, Architecture, Interior Design, Facility Management, or related field
*In lieu of an Associate's Degree, an additional two (2) years of experience with electronic drawing management at a healthcare design firm or a large-scale academic research or healthcare center may be substituted.*
Minimum Experience Required:
Five (5) years of experience working with AutoCAD, facility drawings, space management systems, facilities planning, space utilization, or a related discipline.
Experience with space management systems (e.g., Archibus, FM:Systems, Planon, or similar platforms) and facility data management.
Minimum Skills Required:
Proficiency in AutoCAD and the ability to read, interpret, and maintain architectural and facility drawings.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, for reporting and analysis.
Knowledge of space planning, occupancy management, room numbering standards, and space classification methodologies.
Knowledge of building plans, construction documents, and facility documentation practices.
Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to conduct field verifications, space inventories, and facility audits while maintaining accurate facility records.
Preferred Education Level:Bachelor's degree in architecture, Interior Design, Facilities Management, or related field.
Preferred Experience
Five (5) or more years of experience in CAD drafting, space planning, facilities management, or space management systems administration.
Experience integrating and maintaining AutoCAD drawings within a space management system such as Archibus, FM:Systems, Planon, or a similar platform.
Experience conducting space audits, field verifications, facility inventories, and maintaining space, occupancy, and utilization data.
Experience managing room numbering standards, wayfinding documentation, and space records for renovations, construction projects, moves, and organizational changes.
Experience supporting healthcare, research, higher education, corporate, or other large institutional environments with complex space planning requirements.
Experience developing reports, dashboards, and analytics related to space utilization, occupancy, vacancy, and departmental allocations.
Experience collaborating with architects, engineers, project managers, facilities teams, and business stakeholders to support planning and operational initiatives.
Experience developing standards, governance practices, and process improvements related to CAD, space data, and space management systems.
Highly Preferred
Experience supporting healthcare campuses and clinical environments.
Experience serving as a system administrator, subject matter expert, or lead user for a space management platform.
Experience implementing, upgrading, or optimizing a space management system, including CAD integration standards.
Knowledge of healthcare facility regulations, accreditation requirements, and industry standards such as BOMA and IFMA.
Experience supporting facility master planning, strategic space planning, and long-range portfolio management initiatives.
Salary Range
$27.63 - $42.18
Salary ranges posted for this position represent the expected base pay range for the role. Actual compensation may vary based on location and a variety of job-related factors, including experience, skills, education, and internal equity among Team Members in similar positions.
