Registered Apprenticeship Program - HVAC, Plumbing, or Electrical
Important Note:
Our apprenticeship program is highly sought after, and due to strong demand, we are not always able to accept new participants. When applying, please be sure to specify which trade you are interested in: HVAC, Plumbing, or Electrical.

Program Eligibility & Enrollment
  • If you are already enrolled in trade-related classes, you will automatically be eligible to become an apprentice with Southern Air. We will take over the cost of your program beginning the following semester.
  • If you have not yet started classes, you must first be employed with Southern Air for a minimum of six (6) months. At that time, your supervisor may refer you to the Apprenticeship Program based on your performance and whether you meet company expectations and program requirements.

Program Details:
The cost of our Apprenticeship Program is fully covered by Southern Air. As a result, this benefit is only available to Southern Air employees. Submit an application for the opportunity to earn while you learn through a paid apprenticeship with a growing, employee-owned company that has proudly served the region for over 80 years.

Job Description
The State Apprentice will work alongside a Journeyman or Master tradesperson to assist with installing, maintaining, and repairing equipment according to customer specifications and applicable codes.
Apprentices also attend training as part of their professional development through approved educational programs.
Apprenticeship Training Program
  • Structured 4-year apprenticeship program
  • Open to individuals ranging from high school students to adults
  • Earn a Journeyman's license in your chosen trade
  • Classes held two nights per week
  • Coursework is completed through local community colleges or approved online programs
What You'll Be Working On
  • Assist in installation and assembly of trade-specific materials and equipment in shop or field environments
  • Support setup and operation of tools, machinery, and equipment
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas
  • Actively participate in apprenticeship training and coursework
  • Collaborate with team members and maintain professional relationships
  • Follow safe handling and usage of materials
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • NCCER certification preferred
  • Basic knowledge of trade materials and tools
  • Ability to multitask, follow instructions, and demonstrate attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Must pass a post-offer drug screen and any required background checks
  • Must adhere to all company policies and procedures
