Internship Overview
An internship at Accelevation is not a summer of shadowing and busy work. We design, manufacture, and install the critical infrastructure that powers some of the world's most advanced technologies. As an intern, you will work alongside industry experts on meaningful projects with real deadlines, real responsibilities, and real impact. You will collaborate with engineers, manufacturing leaders, and project managers who are solving complex challenges and shaping the future of critical infrastructure. From our manufacturing center in Southwest Ohio to the mission-critical environments behind many of the world's largest data centers, you will gain firsthand exposure to how innovative ideas become reality. Your Impact
As an Application Engineer Intern, you will gain hands-on engineering experience supporting the design-to-manufacturing process for mission-critical infrastructure products. Working closely with engineers and manufacturing teams, you will contribute to creating and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs), CAD drawings, engineering documentation, and ERP system data.
This role provides exposure to product development, engineering workflows, manufacturing processes, and technical documentation within a fast-paced, high-growth organization.
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Create, modify, and update CAD drawings and engineering documentation
  • Generate and maintain part numbers and product data within the ERP system
  • Support engineering documentation accuracy and revision control processes
  • Collaborate with engineers to ensure product data and technical documentation remain accurate and up to date
  • Assist with organizing and maintaining digital engineering files and records
  • Participate in design-to-manufacturing workflow activities
  • Support product development and engineering projects as assigned
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within engineering processes
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field at an accredited university
  • Must have completed at least two years of undergraduate study prior to the internship
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and/or SolidWorks
  • Strong interest in engineering design, manufacturing, and product development
  • Innovative and curious self-starter with a desire to make a meaningful impact
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Physical Demands and Work Environment
Employees must be able to communicate effectively and work in both office and manufacturing environments. This position requires regular use of engineering software, computers, and standard office equipment while collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams. Physical requirements include sitting, standing, walking, reviewing technical documentation, and working at computer workstations for extended periods. Occasional movement throughout manufacturing and production areas may be required. The work environment includes office settings, engineering workspaces, and manufacturing facilities with moderate noise levels. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when entering production areas.
