Job description

Position Overview
We are searching for a passionate and detail-oriented Senior Technical Designer to join the Tuckernuck team, with a focus on Bottoms and Outerwear. In this role, you will play a key part in the sample fitting process, collaborate with designers, merchandisers and vendors, and use your technical expertise to ensure the best product is produced. A successful Technical Designer will be fashion-forward, deadline-driven, and possess a strong knowledge of garment fit and construction. Ideal candidates will have a keen eye for detail and demonstrate sound knowledge of industry-related software.
Core Responsibilities
  • Own the technical development process for Bottoms and Outerwear from initial proto through production approval
  • Lead fittings on live models, providing detailed and accurate fit comments and construction specifications at each stage of development
  • Create and maintain points of measure and construction specifications for all styles within assigned categories
  • Partner with Design and Merchandising to provide technical expertise and ensure alignment on fit, construction, and product expectations
  • Communicate fit corrections and technical comments to vendors, ensuring timely and accurate sample execution
  • Track and manage samples through all development stages, adhering to the development calendar
  • Identify construction and fit issues and recommend solutions that balance design intent with production feasibility
  • Maintain consistency of fit and construction standards across styles within assigned categories
  • Stay up to date with the latest techniques in the development of garments

Minimum Qualifications
  • 8-12 years of experience in Technical Design, with a focus in Bottoms and/or Outerwear

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Strong technical knowledge of pattern making, garment construction, and grading principles, with category expertise in Bottoms and Outerwear
  • Ability to assess design feasibility and clearly communicate technical recommendations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Deadline-driven and committed to quality
  • Practical experience with Adobe Illustrator and Gerber Accumark PDS; experience with Airtable a plus

Compensation
Compensation for the role will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience. The estimated annual compensation for this role is $90,000-$120,000; classified as full-time exempt and not eligible for overtime.
