Job description

Our client in the telecommunications sector is undertaking a major modernization and cloud transformation program, operating a range of sales-supporting applications and platforms. To strengthen cross-functional collaboration between business and IT, we are looking for experienced Senior Solution Architects / Solution Designers who can design scalable, cloud-based enterprise solutions while effectively bridging business requirements and technical implementation.

Role Overview:
As a Senior Solution Architect / Solution Designer, you will work closely with business stakeholders and development teams to design, optimize, and modernize large-scale enterprise applications. You will translate business needs into technically sound, cloud-native architectures, support the migration to AWS and OpenShift, and ensure alignment between strategic business goals and IT deliverables.

Tasks to be performed:
-Learn and understand the full product lifecycle and associated business processes across departments.
-Architect scalable, cloud-based solutions (AWS, OpenShift) ensuring long-term maintainability and flexibility.
-Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather, refine, and document functional and non-functional requirements.
-Translate business requirements into conceptual and logical solution designs, considering system interfaces, data flows, and dependencies.
-Align solution designs with enterprise architecture, data governance, and integration standards.
-Provide architectural guidance on API integrations, data migration, and system interoperability.
-Support developers and architects during implementation by clarifying requirements and solution logic.
-Optimize and modernize legacy systems, refactor existing codebases to improve performance and maintainability.
-Prepare documentation such as process models, user stories, system context diagrams, and data models.
-Facilitate workshops with stakeholders to validate understanding and drive consensus on proposed solutions.
-Conduct impact assessments for change requests and contribute to effort estimations.
-Actively participate in the agile team setup (e.g., refinements, sprint planning, reviews) to ensure continuous alignment and incremental delivery.
-Perform defect analysis and propose architectural solutions to improve system stability.
-Mentor development teams and enforce best practices for system design, development, and deployment.

Required Qualifications:
-Several years of experience as a Solution Architect, Solution Designer, or Business Analyst in complex enterprise IT environments.
-Proven experience designing cloud architectures (AWS preferred) and containerized solutions (OpenShift/Kubernetes).
-Strong background in Java-based backend development, system integrations, and API management.
-Ability to translate business requirements into scalable, technically sound solution designs.
-Experience modernizing legacy applications and refactoring large codebases.
-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to structure complex problems into actionable solutions.
-Hands-on experience with requirements engineering, process modeling (e.g. BPMN), and documentation.
-Familiarity with microservices architecture, event-driven design (Kafka), CI/CD pipelines.
-Understanding of system architecture and integration principles (SOAP/REST APIs).
-Industry experience in telecommunications, pricing engines, product catalogs, or quoting systems is a plus.
-Fluent in English (spoken & written) German is a plus.
