Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented and experienced Senior Project Architect to join our Buildings + Places business line in Houston, Austin or Dallas Texas. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead design efforts, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and deliver innovative solutions for a diverse range of projects, including commercial, industrial, and municipal sectors.
The ideal Project Architect IV candidate will bring a strong architectural background, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for creating impactful spaces. This position requires a proven ability to manage complex projects, mentor junior staff, and ensure design excellence throughout all project phases.
USWest Buildings + Places has a vast market spread and geography, providing opportunities across a wide range of project typologies, including Science & Technology, Advanced Manufacturing, Commercial, Aerospace, Higher Education, Industrial and Process, Transportation, Aviation, Sports and Federal market sectors across the western United States and beyond. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Design Leadership: Spearhead the design process for projects across commercial, industrial, logistics, and interiors sectors, ensuring innovative and client-focused solutions.
  • Project Coordination: Oversee all phases of project delivery, from conceptual design to construction administration, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, consultants, and other stakeholders, to integrate architectural and technical solutions.
  • Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for project-related communications.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior architects and design staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional growth.
  • Technical Expertise: Ensure compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, and sustainability standards, while maintaining a high level of technical accuracy in project documentation.

  • Strong understanding of building codes, construction methods, and sustainability practices.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Architecture undergraduate degree.
  • 6+ years of professional experience in architectural design and project management or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Licensed Architect in the state of Texas.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Architecture from an NAAB-accredited professional undergraduate degree.
  • Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited program.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in architectural design and project management or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Strong design portfolio showcasing innovative and impactful architectural designs and proven experience in spearheading design for projects
  • Experience in municipal, commercial, and industrial projects, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality designs.
  • Experience in leading client facing presentations, including programming, space planning, and conceptual design.
  • LEED Accreditation or equivalent sustainability certification is a plus.
