Job description

MISUMI Americas, a division of MISUMI Group, is a leading provider of standard, configurable, and custom manufacturing solutions. By integrating a vast catalog of components with a world-class digital manufacturing platform, MISUMI Americas empowers engineers and procurement teams to accelerate innovation across the entire product lifecycle. With operations in the San Francisco Bay Area and Chicago, the company serves as a vital partner for the most innovative companies in the Americas.

Impact In This Role

Unlike software or IT-focused solutions engineering roles, this position is rooted in mechanical engineering - applying hands-on technical knowledge of components, assemblies, and manufacturing processes to solve real design challenges for our customers.

The Solutions Engineer operates as an independent technical contributor, owning end-to-end solution development from RFQ through order and customer engagement. This role balances technical depth, customer interaction, and cross-functional execution to promote solutions to customers' issues. Leverage industry and product knowledge to provide professional technical support to customers to maximize adoption.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Promote and educate customers (design or mechanical engineers, buyers, or other professional and technical personnel) on MISUMI products and services.
  • Create and deliver technical presentations as a subject matter expert to design engineering groups.
  • Work collaboratively with the sales team to achieve growth goals.
  • Provide technical design support and education both internally and externally on products, including materials, fits, tolerances, lifespans, engineering calculations, sizing, CAD models, website, and functions via phone, email, and internal training.
  • Handle large, custom, and competitor cross-over quoting opportunities between customers and internal departments (domestic and overseas) to capture new business.
  • Ensure compliance to quality and work as needed with Customer Service and Procurement to resolve quality claims.
  • Identify internal inefficiencies and suggest solutions
  • Generate expert technical content for webinars, seminars, videos, websites, catalogs, and other marketing collateral to increase product and brand awareness.
  • Perform and support market research and provide insights for the machine design industry.
Desired Traits
  • ย Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Robotics, Automation, or Industrial Engineering.
  • ย 3 years of Application/Mechanical engineering experience preferred.
  • ย Sizing and specifying mechanical assemblies with assembly capabilities.
  • ย Knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment preferred.
  • ย Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal and conflict management skills.
  • ย Working knowledge of 3D CAD, Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) CRM software, VB, VBA (plus).
  • ย Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • ย Highly motivated, driven, responsible, possess leadership, and results oriented.

Salary Range: $64,000 to $90,000 per year, based upon experienceย ย
